RICHARD ABOUT HIMSELF
I run hot and cold, im double glazed and full of interesting facts and words
of wisdom. I like the rain. I like umbrellas more. Im obsessed with autumn and
the colours. I like cats, especially Martha Jolene Walters. Im 23 and I travel
around alot. I sometimes get frustrated by myself, as do others. I enjoy afternoon
tea and toast. oh yes i do. 'The cash machine is blue and green For a bundle
of twenties and a small service fee I could spend three dollars and sixty-three
cents On Diet Coca-Cola and unlit cigarettes I wonder why we listen to poets
when nobody gives a fuck How hot and sorrowful, the machine begs for luck All
my lies are always wishes I know I would die if I could come back new We want
a good life with a nose for things the fresh wind and bright sky to endure my
suffering I'm a hole without a key if I break my tongue Oh, speaking of tomorrow,
how will it ever come? All my lies are always wishes I know I would die if I
could come back new I'm down on my hands and knees every time I hear a doorbell
ring I shake like a toothache every time I hear myself sing All my lies are
only wishes I know I would die if I could come back new I would like to salute
the ashes of American flags And all the fallen leaves filling up shopping bags'

MISSING PIECES
We are the Missing Pieces. We don't have edgy emo haircuts that streak across
our foreheads. We don't play angular discordant guitar riffs. We have beards,
apart from the blonde one, he had to get a tan as he didn't want to look pasty
this summer. Currently locked up in Oxford recording some demos, which will be
up on this page by the end of the month.
The band members are: Charly Coombes (Vox/Keys), Richard Walters (Vox/Guitar),
Greg Allum (Bass), Damien Trent (Drums).

MONO BAND
You will hear something familiar about Mono Band: the trademark ringing guitars
and fluid melodies bear the unmistakable imprint of guitarist Noel Hogan's years
with one of the world's most successful bands, The Cranberries. Mono Band's new
music sounds fresh and different, too - from the Noel Hogan's subtle electronic
touches and inventive programming to the haunting and beautiful voice of front-man
Richard Walters.
The Mono Band Story
While working on Mono Band's first few tracks, Noel initially decided to work
with various singers in order to give each track a different sound. Half-way
through the album, however, Noel was sent a track by Oxford singer-songwriter
Richard Walters. Upon listening to the track, Noel immediately called up Richard
to ask if he was interested in recording a track for Mono Band's album. While
working together, both Noel and Richard realised that they couldn't just quit
after one track. One song led to another and soon Richard was fronting Mono
Band at various gigs around the UK and the USA.
The unmistakable musical chemistry between Noel and Richard is now creating
new buzz and new tunes. With the "bones of an album" together, with
mixes by Bernard Butler (ex Suede/McAlmont & Butler) and Cenzo Townsend
who has been working with Kaiser Chiefs and The Ordinary Boys, Mono Band are
planning a world-wide release, touring and a new and intriguing sound only Richard
Walters and Noel Hogan can create.
Richard Walters
Hailing from Oxford, UK, Richard Walters, Ex Theremin front-man, released his
first solo EP in May 2004 on Beard Museum Records. 'Umbrella Songs' received
great reviews the world over. Noel Hogan
Guitarist by nature and Mono Band mastermind by accident, Noel Hogan is known
by many as the lead guitarist and co-songwriter of The Cranberries. In an attempt
to break free from the 'guitar-drums line-up' he became so accustomed to with
The Cranberries, Noel decided to take a step towards a more electronic feel
where could venture off in a new direction and experiment with different eclectic
sounds, voices and beats. Through experimentation and computer programming,
Mono Band was born.

THEREMIN, POLYSOUL (RICHARD'S EX-BANDS)
Theremin, the collaboration between Richard Walters and the drum and bass section of Wonderland, was very interesting. Polysoul and the later Wonderland material have been very similar, the focus on soaring vocals and melodies. So it was expected that Theremin would ba a natural progression from there. It was a surprise to hear the opening song which was more Placebo than Polysoul. There was angst in Richard's voice that was never heard before. However there were also the melodies that were to be expected. It was an promising beginning for, hopefully, a group that would be very exciting.
